Spring Break-Smith Style

Last week during spring break Riley got to spend some time with his Grammy and Grandy. He even got to see Grandma. (We missed Grandad, but he was sick.) Annette had to send me pics, because she got some really good ones. I wanted to share a few of them because there are some really cute ones and some oh so sweet ones. I am always so glad to spend some time with my in-laws. I have probably said it before, but I am going to say it again. I have the BEST in-laws ever. I am such a lucky girl!

Riley and Grandma. She doesn't always wear bright yellow, but Riley wasn't too fond of her at first so Annette thought if she put on something different it might help. I think she found Randy's running jacket. Riley preferred it to the pink she was wearing earlier. Funny kid.

I didn't crop this one yet, but I think this is such a sweet picture of Wally and Riley checkin' each other out.

We can't wait to see Grandma again, hopefully Grandad will get to play also. We also can't wait to see Grammy and Grandy again. Please come play anytime!

Update on Granny

Thanks for all the prayers. Granny's surgery went well. Riley and I came to Tyler yesterday to stay with her so mom could go back to school. I think Riley has been great for recovery. Babies just seem to make anyone feel better. Riley and Granny have just laughed and giggled at each other a lot!

I will get around to posting some pictures this weekend. I hope everyone has a good Friday.

I am sitting in my parents living room and this is view from the front window. Isn't it just so sweet. It melts my heart. Pardon the graininess of the pictures, but there was a screen in my way.

To: Daddy.....From: Riley

Dear Daddy,

Today after church we went and ate at Mercado's for lunch. Mommy told me that I needed to eat a tortilla for you since you weren't there. I did and it was really good!! I also tried some refried beans and they were yummy! I hope you are having fun in Arizona. I promise not to grow up too much while you are gone.

Oh, yeah and mom got her hair cut. It doesn't look perfect right now because she just woke up from nap, but I think you get the idea.

Riley is 9 Months Old

I can't believe how big our baby boy is getting. He is doing new things everyday and getting into more things all the time. We went to see the DR yesterday and he didn't have to get any shots, but they told us how big he really is.

Here are his stats:

Weight: 17 lbs 4oz

Height: 28 in.

Here are some pictures from the 9 month photo shoot with his bat. Can you guess what his favorite thing to do right now is? I also must say that he is just sooooo stinking CUTE!! I love him.

If you guessed that he likes to put things in his mouth, then you got it. He likes to taste/chew on pretty much anything. He is developing such a fun personality. He laughs and smiles most of the time and loves to play with his toys. He is pulling up on everything. He has only stood by himself 3 times. I mean letting go to the table or our leg and just standing there. He hasn't started furniture walking yet, but he will crawl all over the place. He has been eating puffs for a while now from our hand, but he is actually feeding himself now really well. He has fed himself bananas, carrots, and green beans so far. We are still working on the sippy cup, he is really not very good at it. He mostly plays with it and throws it off the high chair.

Here is a list of some of his favorites lately:

-putting anything and everything in his mouth

-he loves being outside

-Praise Baby DVD

-his circle teething toy with bees, butterflies and ladybugs on it

That's all I can think of right now. I am in Tyler for the next week. The Mexico trip that got cancelled was changed to a trip to Arizona so Russell is spending the week hanging out with College kids and doing some work in Arizona. He is really excited about getting to see the Grand Canyon and also going to Rangers Training Camp in Surprise, AZ. So say a pray for safe travel for the group. Riley is already having fun with Nana, Poppy and Granny. Tomorrow we are going to spend the day with Grammy and Grandy. Grandma Marolyn and Grandad Louie are coming to play also. So we are looking forward to tomorrow. Well, that is it for now. Have a good weekend everyone.

Lots of Pictures

So, last week I admitted to not taking any pictures of my child. I thought I needed to make up for that this past week by taking 63 pictures. So I will let the pictures do most of the talking. I can't believe that on Tuesday our little mister will be 9 months old. Russell mentioned today that Riley has been out of the oven now, longer than he was in the oven. That was weird to think about, but very true. Some of these pictures are very similar, but I couldn't decide which ones were cuter. Enjoy!

This is how R fell asleep one night this week. It looks like he just fell over and was out.
My good friend Kaela keeps R on Wednesdays while we are at Financial Peace. This way R can go to bed at a normal hour and also KK just loves hanging out with R.Some Bath time pictures.

Thoughts

• Riley thought it would be fun to wake up every 30 minutes from 12:30-3:30 last night. That makes for a fun night. He usually wakes up once a night between 3 and 5 to eat, but he hasn't done this in a while.
• I got a Kitchenaid mixer last weekend. I found it on Craigslist for a really great price. I was so excited. Isn't it so pretty and doesn't it just look good on my counter. I have already made cookies, mashed potatoes and some more cookies. I can't wait to make more with it.

• I've got a cough, a runny nose and I don't have much a voice.
• Thanks to Russell's cousin Stuart we went on a dinner date to Razoo's last night. It was super fun. Stuart doesn't have much experience with babies, so he told us that he googled how to change a diaper before he came over. We made sure to give him a quick lesson before we left.
• I am finally caught up on laundry. YAY! Unfortunatley there will be a whole new pile for me by Wednesday. I told Russell I didn't want to have to do laundry again for a month, but I don't think I will be so lucky.
• Russell and I started Financial Peace University at church on Wednesday night. We hope to learn lots of money managing strategies that will help us become better money managers.
• I have just discovered that I like supreme pizzas with green olives on them. Yummy. There is just something about that green olive that is just fabulous.
• I went to a Step class at the gym on Thursday. I LOVED it. I was going to go on Saturday, but this coughing/runny nose business has just taken it all out of me. I hope to go on Tuesday.
• Russell was supposed to go to Mexico on a mission trip during spring break with a group for Oklahoma, but the trip got cancelled for the first time in 15 years for safety reasons. I think he was just a little bummed.
• Riley has started making rasberry and spitting noises with his mouth. He thinks it is so funny.
• Riley also thinks its hilarious when Russell puts something on top of his (russell's) head. He laughs and smiles over and over again. It is so funny to watch.
• Yesterday Russell and Riley had a grunting match. Daddy would make a sound and then Riley would make a sound and it just continued. That was pretty funny also.
• Riley has finally been able to feed himself a little this week. He is only eating Gerber puffs right now, but he can actually put it in his mouth by himself. He thinks that is a really fun. We are still working on the sippy cup.
• Thursday we went and had a playdate with Doodle and Caden. I think the boys played well together. It was fun. I will post some pictures of them as soon as I download them.
• I got to see one of my best friends yesterday. Kyndall and her hubby were in town for a wedding. They live in Orlando and I don't get to see her very often. Kyndall and I have been friends since our Freshman year in High school. I think that was like 11 years ago.
• I started reading a book this week. Now those of you that know me, know I like to read a lot, but I mostly read for entertainment. I have always hated reading books for assignments or classes. I am actually reading a book on vocal technnique just for fun. There have been many things I have come across this year while teaching voice that I am not 100% sure how to convey to my students. I am hoping that by reading this book it will help me be a better teacher.
• Ok now I realize that none of these thoughts are in any kind of order. Hopefully this will give you a better idea of what goes on in my head all the time. I am not a very organized person anyways, so why should my thought be organized. Sorry there are no pictures of Riley. I didn't get my camera out much last week. I hope everyone has a good week. I will try and post some pictures soon.
